Equality Standard: Foundation Level

Northumberland Sport is proud to announce the awarding of the Foundation Level of the Equality Standard: A Framework for Sport. Northumberland Sport were the first County Sports Partnership in the North East to be awarded this achievement, which is the result of the fantastic effort from Partners and the Core Team in contributing to the process and pulling together a detailed and extensive portfolio of evidence.

Executive Director Doug Lowery said: “this is a fantastic achievement and shows that equity is embedded throughout the work of the Northumberland Sport Partnership. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the Partnership for their hard work”.

Future Progress: Preliminary Level

The next phase of Northumberland Sport's equality work will be to build on this success and influence the development of training and projects to make a difference to participation in sport and physical activity by disadvantaged groups in Northumberland.

This process will provide the evidence required to support the requirements of the Preliminary Level of the Equality Standard i.e. Northumberland Sport understands the barriers and issues faced by under-represented groups in sport in Northumberland and has developed a robust action plan which is understood by all staff and members.
