Northumberland Clubs

'Northumberland Sport Clubs' is a club development scheme currently being piloted by Northumberland Sport.

This scheme provides selected sports clubs from across the county with a wide variety of benefits including;

volunteer workshop opportunities through the North East Course Finder (including 1^st Aid, Safeguarding and Child Protection and Equity in your Coaching)
advice on securing potential funding
support to achieve accreditation status
advice on increasing existing membership
and much more!

The package is delivered through the Club and Coach Development Officer with support where required from the Core Team. This includes designated meeting times with the Club and Coach Development Officer to identify a club development plan for the duration of the available support.

Recent Developments

The Northumberland Sport Clubs scheme is currently supporting the following clubs in Northumberland, following consultation with local partners;

Morpeth Cricket Club
Ashington Rugby Club
Ashington Swimming Club
Barnesbury Cycling Club

As part of the scheme the clubs have identified their own developmental needs, through consultation with our Club & Coach Development Officer and are currently focussing on the following areas;

Increasing junior membership
Improving the quality of the coaching available
Gaining greater access to funding pots to support further club developmental needs.

Moving Forward

Further clubs have been identified as part of the pilot and Northumberland Sport will be looking to work with these early in the New Year.
