Coaching Success in Northumberland

The Northumberland Sport Coach Grant Award Scheme closed its doors for business at the end of September 2009 after investing over £60,000 in local coaches and sports leaders working in our local clubs, schools and leisure and community centres.

In total the scheme has supported;

  • 213 Community Sports Leaders - mostly young people under the age of 18
  • 167 newly qualified (level 1) coaches - People new to the coaching workforce
  • 119 Level 2 coaches - People moving up the coaching ladder and improving their qualifications
  • 13 Higher qualified coaches at Level 3 & 4 - People seeking to Coach at performance levels and or manage/tutor other coaches

Moving Forward

Northumberland Sport remain committed to increasing the number of trained and qualified individuals within Northumberland, something identied in our Workforce Development Plan.  We will therefore continue to work closely with Sport England, NGB’s and partners to support coaches actively living/coaching within the county.
