The UK Coaching Framework
The UK Coaching Framework Outlined
A number of sports are working with sports coach UK to develop the UK’s coaching system into a recognised world leader, with the UK Coaching Framework: a 3-7-11 Action Plan providing the foundation.
The UK Coaching Framework will develop a supportive structure in which National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and partner organisations have the latitude to interpret the Plan to their organisation.
Based on an extensive consultation period of over 12 months the UK Coaching Framework will create:
A cohesive, ethical, inclusive and valued coaching system where:
Children, players and athletes are supported by appropriately skilled coaches at all stages of their development in sport and which is number one in the world by 2016, bench-marked against international best practice. The UK Coaching Framework will work over a 3-7-11 year timescale with a focus on:
- Enhancing the quality and quantity of coaching
- Increasing the number of qualified coaches so as to bring about sustained and increased participation in sport
- Improved performances in sport, underpinned by the establishment of coaching as a profession
Certain sports have already begun working towards the UK Coaching Framework, adapting their coaching systems to include principle points of the Framework. Sports have been invited to bid to become one of six to pilot and roll-out the implementation of The UK Coaching Framework.
