Big Bounce
Northumberland Sport are pleased to inform you of an exciting opportunity to volunteer at Gateshead's Big Bounce event on 4th August 2007 which is being organised by English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS).
This is a community event and will take place at Gateshead International Stadium.
The event is aimed at getting non-disabled and disabled children and their families interested in a healthier lifestyle, through taster sessions and stalls offering health advice and healthy products. The day will end with Sportacus from the popular children's T.V. show Lazy Town leading the audience in mass exercise. The event will include
- 5000 participants
- 50 community residents trained to support the event
- Inclusive activities
- Access to health and leisure information and advice
- World record attempt
- Sports clinic with World Class Coach
How can clubs be involved
EFDS would like local clubs and coaches to run the demonstrations and taster sessions, this way when local children want to conintue the sports, they have already met the coach, enjoyed the session and have been given contact details. It also gives the parents the opportunity to meet and chat to the coach.
Volunteer Opportunities
There are lots of opportunities before, during and after the event, such as
Pre-event organisation, Events Assistants on the day, stewarding, family liaison, fundraising, activity assistants (in school), rig and de-rig of staging.
The relevant training (health and safety, fire safety, disability awareness) and experience will be given dependant on the role of each volunteer.
If you would like to be involved in the event, please contact EFDS on 0191 3347207 or northeast@efds.co.uk with details of how you would like to be involved.
