Dance 2007

Dancer

Following on from the previous two years successful festivals, Castle Morpeth Borough Council are having another weekend packed full of dance, covering dance in its widest form on 15th, 16th and 17th June 2007 in Carlisle Park, Morpeth.

The concept of the festival is to have something that will appeal to everyone no matter what age, attract visitors to the area and give everyone the opportunity to be involved in, watch and be entertained by dance.

Entirely in Carlise Park, this year there will be more performances and more dance styles for you to enjoy than ever before.  With new evening performances from international dance companies the festival this year is bigger, brighter and better than ever before.

The event is being organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Unit of Castle Morpeth Borough Council and for the first time in partnership with Dance City, the dance development agency for the North East.

This year the festival will include not only artists from all over the North East but international dance company Shikisha from South Africa performing on the Friday evening and Jaleo direct from Seville performing Flamenco on the Saturday evening.  With a 10% discount for advance bookings these performances are a must for all the family.

Once again there will be a series of free taster workshops, with many of the performers teaching their particular area of dance to those wanting to “have a go”!.  To ensure a place on one of these taster workshops make your booking using the form in the brochure, or you can just turn up on the day.

There will also be stalls selling goods with a Northumbrian flavour and an area around the skate park with activities for young people on the Saturday of the festival.

This is a festival to suit everyone’s tastes – so put the dates in your diary, come along and have some fun!
