The traditional event takes place around the Elizabethan walls of Berwick when runners try to take in the full circuit of the walls while the Curfew Bell rings continually for 13 minutes.

The run starts at 8pm on 15th July 2009 and registration is from 7pm on the grassed area opposite the Barracks, Berwick-upon-Tweed. It costs £3 for adults to enter and £1 for children under 16. Entries will only be taken on the day.

There will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female seniors (16 and over) and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for male and female juniors (under 16). The event is being organised by Active Berwick’s Sports Development Team with volunteers from Berwick Harriers running club.

Sports Development Officer Paul Jones said: “This is a fun event for everyone and is popular with experienced and novice runners both young and old. Put the date in your diary now and come along and take part in the Curfew Run - it’s a tradition not to be missed!”
