Mens Health Week

BVAL final log1

Men's Health Week 2010 will be the first-ever national campaign to encourage men to become more physically active.

This year, the annual National Men's Health Week 14th-20th June, organised by the Men's Health Forum, will encourage men and boys to be more physically active.  From relieving stress and anxiety to losing weight and reducing the risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes, physical activity has lots going for it.  It can even improve male sexual performance!

To coincide with the FIFA Football World Cup and National Men's Health Week, Make-a-Move Leisure Inclusion Team are running a world cup road show across South East Northumberland.

This is a week long event visiting;

* Bedlington Salvation Army on Monday 14th

* Morpeth Town Hall on Tuesday 15th

* Blyth Sports centre on Wednesday 16th

* Ashington Hirst welfare on Thursday 17th

* Concordia leisure centre Cramlington on Friday 18th June

The road shows start at 12noon till 5pm and will consist of two live World cup group games being shown on the big screen while you can take part in physical activity.  Activities will include rowing, cycling, health checks, football shootout competition and a non-alcoholic bar.

Best of all, this whole event is FREE of charge, so come along and enjoy the day!

More information can be found on the Blyth Valley Arts and Leisure or contact event organiser Michael Firek on 01670 542413.

"Just doing a small amount of physical activity can greatly improve a man's quality of life. Whether it's walking more regularly, cycling to work or even just using stairs not the lift, there are things we can all do as part of our daily routine." Dr Ian Banks, President of the Men's Health Forum.
