Northumberland Junior Golf Tour Finale
Northumberland Sport is pleased to report that Marc Friar, one of our Sport Unlimited participants from last summer (2009) has continued to develop his skills in the sport and won the opportunity to compete in this summer's Northumberland Junior Golf Tour Final.
Please visit our events page for further details on where the Tour competitions were held this summer in Northumberland, which was open to boys and girls aged between 7 and 12 years old with and without a handicap. All competition participants had an opportunity to qualify for the Regional Final which is to be hosted by De Vere Slaley Hall Golf Club on Sunday 5th September by playing in at least 3 events and occupying the top 4 places in the Order of Merit.
The winners representing Northumberland this year are as follows:
Experienced Boys: 1. William Wilkinson, 2. Sam Wilkinson, 3. Lewis Robson & 4. Craig Newton.
Beginner Boys: 1. Cameron Fletcher-Smith, 2. Stefan Thomson, 3. Marc Friar & 4. Jamie Hodge
Experienced & Beginner Girls: 1. Niahm Lendrum, 2. Emma Allison, 3. Megan Forman, 4. Katherine Allison, 5. Imogen Horrocks, 6. Rachel Gourley, 7. Kiri-Mae Lamb & 8. Lisa Hunter.
The finalists will play a 9 hole competition on the Priestman Course at Slaley Hall GC against the winners from County Durham in an individual and team event. The event also welcomes David Edwards (World Trick Show Champion) who will be performing some on course commentary as well as a Trick Show after the competition.
Staring alongside David will be European Tour player, Kenneth Ferrie who will be on hand to sign autographs and do a Question and Answer session with the young people. As well as all of this we will be running various putting, chipping, long drive competitions and coaching clinics for Adults and Juniors. This event is free of charge and we would encourage as many people as possible to come to Slaley Hall on the 5th September to support the day.
