Northumberland Sport is delighted to announce that as part of the Northumberland Triathlon Festival at Druridge Bay Country Park, there will be an Open Water Swim taking place on Saturday 20 June 2009.

The swim is an open event for anyone aged 14 or over interested in trying a 1500m Open Water Swim in Ladyburn Lake. You may be a regular open water competitor, club swimmer, tri athlete or simply enjoy recreational swimming at your local pool but are keen to set yourself a new challenge.

The course will be a marked loop covering the 1500m distance.  Safety boats will be frequently spaced around the course.  Each swimmer will receive a brightly coloured numbered hat, which all competitors must wear for safety reasons. Each hat will have your individual race number on it so swimmers can easily be identified. Wetsuits are optional.

Swimmers will start in waves, depending on anticipated completion time and chosen stroke. There will be 20 minutes in between waves.  All swimmers will be given the option of becoming used to the water 5 minutes prior to the start of their swim.

The swim will cost £10 per swimmer and this fee must be submitted with your completed entry form to secure your place. To register please complete the entry form.

All entries must be received by 12th June 2009. Entries after this date or on the day will not be accepted.
