Put the Fun Into Fitness at Prudhoe Active Open Day
Don’t delay – get active today – that’s the message Northumberland Sport is sending out to TyneValley residents. To give you a bit of encouragement and to help kick start you into action Waterworld in Prudhoe is holding a free open day on Sunday June 1st.
The leisure centre will be opening its doors to the whole community from mid day and over the course of the afternoon there will be an action packed programme of free activities so that residents of all ages can come along, join in the taster sessions and to try something new without any obligation.
The fun filled programme laid on by North Country Leisure Tynedale will include swimming and spinning, new age kurling, boxercise and even circus skills. Anyone taking part in a class will be given a free swimming voucher. Experienced staff will also be on hand to give health MOT’s, gym tours and provide healthy eating advice.
Northumberland Sport is supporting this event through its successful Get Active Northumberland Campaign aimed at getting more people, of all ages to take part in physical and recreational activities throughout Northumberland.
Northumberland Sport Executive Director Doug Lowery said:
“Despite our best intentions to get fit and lose weight so many of us find it difficult to make regular exercise part of our lives and this is often because we start a fitness regime that we don’t enjoy, that is not realistic or is incompatible with our daily lives.”
“Fitness can and should be fun and form an essential part of everyone’s lives. We should all be getting a minimum of 30 minutes of activity three times a week to reap health benefits. If you are not getting this exercise, then we hope you will make that all important first move and come along on Sunday 1st June. You never know, you may just find a fitness activity that you can enjoy, and which can become part of a new healthy lifestyle for you. ”
