Sporting Challenge for Children In Need

Leisure Alnwick and Willowburn Sport and Leisure Centre staff are taking part in a three stage sporting challenge for Children In Need on Friday afternoon, November 16th.  Any support you can provide will therefore be greatly appreciated!

The event itself, held in the foyer at the Willowburn Sport and Leisure Centre, Alnwick, comprises cycling 49 miles from Willowburn to it’s sister centre (Wentworth) in Hexham on a cycling ergometer.  Then ‘Climbing’ the height of Ben Nevis on the Stepper machine and finally ‘Rowing’ the distance of the Channel crossing. This will prove to be a difficult challenge for the enthusiastic team but members of staff are very keen to achieve all three activities.

Leisure Alnwick are hoping that visitors to Willowburn will leave kind donations for Children In Need in the week leading up to Friday 16th November as well as on the day of the challenge.

Event organiser, StephenBoyd said “As a hub of the local community I think it is fantastic that Leisure Alnwick and the Sport and Leisure facility here at Willowburn can provide an event to contribute to an extremely worthwhile cause.

My role as Community Cricket Coach involves me working with children everyday so this charity is particularly meaningful to me. Hopefully the opportunity for staff members to take part in this challenge will also encourage them to increase their activity levels on a long term basis.”

Northumberland Sport would therefore encourage local people to support your sport development team in Alnwick in raising money for a very worthwhile cause!
