Alnwick Community Sports Coaches Offering Fun and Competitive Opportunities For All

Over the past two years, Community, Sport Coaches have had a massive impact in the Alnwick District Area.
Katy Taylor (Community Football Coach) and Stephen Boyd (Community Cricket Coach) are employed by the NCL Alnwick Sport Development and work in local First and Middle Schools involving children in fun sport games and competitions.
Community Sports Coaches also work effectively in the Community with local Sport Clubs.
The opportunities provided by the Sports Coaches is a great experience for children to enjoy activities, as well as make new friends and develop new skills.
Katy Taylor’s work starts with assisting Schools to achieve the F.A Charter Standard Status. When working in Schools Katy is always enthusiastic and is liked by the children. Her sporting activity is extremely popular in schools around the Alnwick Area. Although the Football season is over, Euro 2008 has still influenced participation in great numbers.
Katy coaches at a number of Schools and is always keen to encourage new people to participate, as well as encourage those that are already involved. She coaches children from the age of 4 up to 14, either in schools or at club level, where she has a number of Girl’s teams, which compete around the area. She coaches several very talented players and aids their on-going football development.
Katy comments “I love the Job, as I love football. I’m giving something back for the pleasure I have experienced over the years. I like seeing people enjoying themselves."
Stephen Boyd similarly works with Schools and clubs across the Alnwick District. Stephen’s coaching comes on the back of increased exposure of cricket as a sport over the last two years. His enthusiasm for the sport and coaching in general, ensures quality coaching sessions and fun for all.
At this time of year Stephen is extremely busy with Cricket Development in schools and representing clubs which have a number of competitive games and practises, which provide great opportunities for local children both new to the sport and existing participants.
Stephen comments “We have 4 or 5 excellent junior set ups in the district, with a number of good juniors. Playing Senior cricket.
