Coquet Valley Archers have recently received a lottery funded grant from Sport England. The club has its base in Upper Coquetdale and was formed in October 2010 after a number of successful 'have a go days' were held. The grant application for £7,298 was made with the support of North Country Leisure and has been allocated for equipment, training of archery coaches and some subsidised membership of the sports governing body, Archery GB.

Alnwick Hockey Club - Sport England Small Grants

Alnwick hockey club in partnership with North Country Leisure have recently been allocated a small grant of £3050 from Sport England, the grant is for club members to attend coaching qualifications at levels 1 and 2 and also qualify 3 players to become umpires.  As the club continues to grow there is an increasing demand for additional coaches to become qualified to support both the junior and senior elements of the club. Qualification of more female coaches will assist with the sustainability of the game while providing more opportunities to develop the player pathway through to excellence programmes. They are also looking at running a series of workshops delivered by top coaches and players which will focus on specific tactical elements of the game e.g. goalkeeping, team formation and core skills.

Alnwick Hockey Club - Sport England Sportsmatch

Alnwick hockey club in partnership with North Country Leisure have been successful in another funding application to Sport England Sportsmatch, they have been allocated £1,000 which has been matched by £1,000 in sponsorship from Ken Britton Manager of SeafieldCaravanPark in Seahouses.  The club is looking to increase their membership by offering holiday activities for juniors and introducing England Hockey Board 'Back to Hockey' programme for those looking to get back into the game. The club currently runs weekly coaching sessions for juniors and seniors which are open to all ages and abilities but would like expand the programme by providing taster session to recruit potential new members who are new to the game of hockey. The club would also like to run a leadership course to support existing coaches and cater for increased demand.
