Young At Heart Participants
Active Alnwick were proud to be a part of the 2008 Young at Heart day held at Willowburn Sport and Leisure Centre on May 16 2008.
This was the 4th annual Young at Heart day in the district and the highest attended to date. Approximately 120 participants (including one lady celebrating her 97th birthday) as well as 40 helpers and contributors were there to experience activities including; Tai Chi, Self Defence, Salsacise, Pilates, New Age Kurling, Golf, Walking, Chair Based Exercise, Aerobics, Singing and others. The day also included a cookery demonstration and short talks on topics ranging from gardening to days gone by.
97% of participants who completed evaluations described the day as either good or excellent.
Active Alnwick remain committed to provide activity for the 50+ population in the district. Look out for new activities coming soon.
Many people played a part in the day being a huge success but Active Alnwick would like to give special thanks to Coquet High School Year 9 pupils who helped throughout the day and were described by one participant as “a credit to the younger generation”
