Northumberland Care Trust
Northumberland Care Trust hopes to play a key role in delivery against Active Tynedale objectives in helping to shape the direction of future work in Tynedale.
Active Tynedale will operate to encourage and facilitate more people to start, stay and succeed in sport and physical activity, which in turn can contribute to health improvement, as we know that physical activity can play a major role in helping prevent many of our major chronic diseases.
Priorities identified in our Northumberland Health Improvement Plan 2007 to 2008 include giving children the best start for a healthy life and as part of this we are looking at halting the rise of obesity in children through better diet and more exercise. Key priorities for the Northumberland Care Trust include;
- Promoting healthier lifestyle choices to young people
- Promoting an active and independent life for older people and preventing avoidable death and disability in adults with an emphasis on heart disease and stroke and promoting mental health and emotional well being
Effective Partnership working will therefore provide a mechanism for helping achieve these priorities. This will benefit the local communities as a whole by channelling investment to ensure maximum impact.
