Sport Unlimited
5 is a magic number. You’ve probably heard about the 5 a day fruit and vegetable campaign, but are you aware that the governments target is for children to participate in minimum of 5 hours physical activity per week? Schools contribute through P.E lessons and the many out of school clubs that are ran by teachers. We now have the opportunity through Sport Unlimited to develop additional out of school clubs and community sessions to make it easier for children to take part in sporting activities.
Sport Unlimited is a nationwide initiative funded by Sport England to get more children and young people taking part in Sport. This three year programme will target 11 to 19 year olds to choose from range of sporting activities.
North Country Leisure Tynedale (NCL Tynedale) has devised a programme of activity based upon coaches available to deliver activity and the potential to enhance and not duplicate current activity. Activities provided by NCL Tynedale will take place in schools, clubs and leisure centres throughout the district.
Tynedale Sports Development have now finialised the Sports Unlimited Programme for January – April 2009. For information on what activities are available in your area please contact Tynedale Sports Development.
