Village Volleyball
Village Volleyball is a project supporting the Northumberland Sport Get Active Northumberland campaign and aims to provide opportunities for people to play volleyball in the rural areas of Tynedale.
The project began in November with a series of free taster sessions, thanks to a Big Lottery ‘Awards for All’ grant, which helped to provide the necessary equipment and a qualified coach for each centre.
Regular sessions have since taken place at Allendale, Blanchland, Haltwhistle and Otterburn involving over 80 people and the first Festival was held at Haltwhistle Leisure Centre on Saturday 16th February.
Anybody can play village volleyball. You can join one of the existing centres just by turning up (after checking that the session is on) or by completing an enrolment form and sending it off. You can even set up your own centre. All you need is a hall with at least one badminton court and a group of interested people who would like to ‘have a go’.
Download an information flyer for details of existing sessions and enrolment form or contact Steve Betts, Community Volleyball Coach on 0771 4368833 or email at tynedale.voll@btinternet.com.
