Wheelchair users Sporting Open Day
Active Tynedale are happy to promote a sporting open day for wheelchair users around the district. The event will be held on May 23rd from 13.00 – 18.00 and is for wheelchair users of all ages. The venue for this event will be ‘The Torch Centre’, Hexham (opposite the hospital)
There will be free taster sessions in a number of sports including athletics, snooker, table tennis, new age kurling and archery as well as other sports hall and table top games. There will also be refreshments and a raffle in what should be packed day of activity.
The aim of the day is to encourage participants to join the club that meets every Friday at the Torch Centre from 2pm to 7pm. It is open to all wheelchair users and their families and caters for those who want to compete and those who just want a friendly game or to socialise with people who focus on ability not disability. There is tea and coffee all afternoon and the bar opens later on. There is a wide variety of activities on offer and opportunities to take sports coaching qualifications if you are interested.
