Ponteland "Young at Heart"

Aerobics

Older people in Ponteland are being offered the chance to try out a number of free activities at a special event being held in March. As part of the FISHNETS (Fitness, Involvement, Safety and Health Networks) project, a series of Young at Heart events are taking place across the County.

The next one will be at Ponteland Leisure Centre, on Friday, March 14, from 10am-3pm and will allow people to try out activities including: tai chi; pilates; salsa dancing; new age curling; chair based exercises and indoor tennis.

Clare Orange, Physical Activity Co-ordinator at Northumberland Care Trust, said: "The day will provide the opportunity for older people to try out a number of activities. It will also give them the opportunity to look around displays and talk to health, leisure and welfare staff. "We have selected activities that will cater for mixed abilities, and are also available in local community settings, to encourage continuation after the event."

The day is free of charge and a light buffet lunch will be available. Anyone 50 years and over is encouraged to go along to the event. For further information, contact Clare on: 01670 784195.
