PE & School Sport Update - March 2011

It is with great sadness that as a result of the recent Coalition Government spending review and the changed role of the local authority, from the 1st April 2011 there will be:

  • No Adviser or Physical Education Consultant in post
  • No Physical Education Service Level Agreement (SLA) available within the Local Authority to support staff and schools in developing maintaining and promoting high quality Physical Education and Physical Activity.
  • No strategic, coordinated and needs based CPD programme available to support the development of Physical Education
  • Great uncertainty about the future of School Sport Partnerships given that their funding is due to end 31st August 2011.
