yoUR Leaders Information

yoUR Leaders is a flexible student centred curriculum model, based on Sport Education principles, within which pupils learn to plan, manage and run their own sports 'season' (which may comprise one or several units of work) as part of their curricular PE programme.  For more information please click here.

The following templates and guidance are available to download to help with the implementation of the yoUR Leaders model;

Further Support Material

Following our recent phase 2b Curriculum dissemination and support event (July 09), targeted at supporting Northumberland secondary phase schools with required secondary curriculum changes, we are pleased to be able to share some of the QCA signed off powerepoint materials and sample planning units that Steve Caldecott (AfPE regional lead for the new QCA secondary curriculum) shared with us on the day as follows;

These materials are not necessarily the answers for all but they can provide you with a useful view of how some successful schools have adapted and innovated their whole school curriculum to:

  • meet the needs of their learners and take account of their local context and staff strengths (in PESS)
  • Focus on developing the framework of Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (in and through Physical Education) i.e
  1. Independent enquirers
  2. Creative thinkers
  3. reflective learners
  4. team workers
  5. self-managers
  6. Effective participators

Please use these materials as a helpful guide when considering effective curriculum change in your Department and indeed across your whole school.

Further details on the new PE programmes of study can be viewed by visiting the national curriculum website.
