The provision for Professional Development in Physical Education is changing. As you will be aware, from April 2011;

  • the funding for professional development in Physical Education will be included in the professional development funding given to schools. Along with developing all other subjects, it will be up to the school to ensure that the high quality, safe practice and professional development in physical education is maintained and that the improvements demonstrated, over the past few years, continue.
  • there will be no Physical Education Service Level Agreement (SLA) within the LA to support staff in developing maintaining and promoting high quality physical education.
  • there will be no physical education consultant/lead trainer in post within the LA.
