The Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) recently nominated Maureen Harrison to be invited as a guest to this year’s prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony at the NEC in Birmingham on Sunday 9th December 2007.

Northumberland Sport is extremely pleased to announce that from all the nominations nationwide, Maureen was 1 of only 4 ASA volunteers to be accepted as a guest to this event.

Northumberland Sport’s Swimming Development Officer, Jenny Glossop said “this is great news for Maureen and everyone from Northumberland Sport would like to congratulate her on receiving this well deserved invite for her outstanding voluntary contribution to lifesaving and swimming.

Maureen is a volunteer coach and secretary of Blyth Lifesaving and Swimming Club and has been committed to the club and the sport for many years. I hope she has a very enjoyable time at the ceremony, well done Maureen!”
