Big Lottery Fund Success
As a result of commitment and dedication from the Multi Agency Looked After Partnership (MALAP) Activities sub group, Northumberland Sport is delighted to announce that our application to the BIG Lottery Fund for £271K has been successful.
What this will mean for Northumberland?
- 3 Year funding to employ 2 full time Development Officer posts with a part time administrative post
- The identification and delivery of sport and physical activity opportunities to the 174 children and young people in looked after care (5-19years) in the County
- Funding for transport hire, equipment purchase, activity delivery and coaching fees
Initial key areas of work will include;
- The organisation and delivery of a ‘Fresher’s Fair’
- To develop coaching, leadership, volunteering and paid employment opportunities
- To repeat the Time Out Survey (research into the levels of sports and cultural participation of young looked after people in Northumberland)
These posts will be hosted by Northumberland County Council and should be appointed early in the New Year.
