Northumberland Sport is pleased to support these events through its successful Get Active Northumberland Campaign aimed at getting more people, of all ages to take part in physical and recreational activities throughout Northumberland.

Northumberland Sport’s Executive Director Doug Lowery said:

“Fitness and weight loss are among the top 10 New Year’s resolutions each and every year, and while people start off with good intentions so many fail to see them through – often because they start a fitness regime that they don’t enjoy, that is not realistic or is incompatible with their daily lives.”

Fitness can and should be fun and form an essential part of everyone’s lives. We should all be getting a minimum of 30 minutes of activity three times a week to reap health benefits.  If you are not getting this exercise, then we hope you will make that all important first move and come along to your local sports centre and join in on one of the ‘Open Days’.    Only you can make it happen.  You never know, you may just find a fitness activity that you can enjoy, and which can become part of a new healthy lifestyle for you. ”
