Sport England have announced that our  Sporting Champions will be allocated on a 1st Come, 1st Serve basis.  Nationally, County Sports Partnerships have been allocated 200 placement opportunities and all these are all up for grabs!

Each Sporting Champion visit will help local community based programmes by;

  • Raising the awareness of sport and the benefits of active recreation
  • engaging with and enthusing young people in sport and their wider lives
  • Increasing the profile of a variety of sports and local sports clubs
  • Improving behaviour in local communities

Allison Curbishley, Sporting Champions Regional Leader for the North East and Commonwealth Silver Medallist said;

"The role of the Regional Leader within the Sporting Champions, I believe, is a tribute to how far the scheme has developed over the years. Through communication with active Sporting Champions we have realised the benefit in regionalising the hugely successful scheme and mirroring the Sport England set up to sit comfortably in the sport delivery network, continuing the great work the Champion visits provide.

I have confidence in the potential of our Sporting Champions North East team and I look forward to the visits ahead and the difference we can make to the youngsters in the North East through sport."
