Accessibility for All at North Country Leisure Centres
As part of National Carers Week, running from the 14th - 20th June, North Country Leisure will be taking part in a range of activities across its centres in Northumberland to promote accessibility to leisure and sport, in partnership with Adapt North East and Carers Northumberland.
Accessibility Open Day 15th June
As well as being venues for cyclists to complete their sponsored ride for this year's Cycle for Carers Challenge; NCL will also be holding Accessibility Open Days at the following sites:
- Tuesday 15th June - Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre, Alnwick
- Tuesday 15th June - Wentworth Leisure Centre, Hexham
- Wednesday 16th June - Prudhoe Waterworld
With guided tours of the buildings at 10am, 12pm and 2pm, visitors will be shown how accessible the centres are for people with disabilities and will also get the opportunity to try the facilities for themselves with a free swim after their tour.
Through partnership working with ADAPT North East, the open days will see the launch of ADAPT's Disability and Deaf Network. The network aims to bring local people with disabilities together to listen to people's views, tackle member's issues and offer support and guidance.
Should transport be a barrier to attending the open days, please contact Adapt by the 11th June for more information about accessible transport: 01434 606156.
