Calling Past Blyth Rugby Club Players
Blyth Rugby Team in action
Blyth Rugby Club are calling on former players to get in touch to help them celebrate their 50th anniversary.
The 2011-12 season will mark the club's half-century and they are determined not to let that milestone go by without some form of fanfare.
The club, based in Plessey Road, were actually founded in the 1920s but soon folded and weren't revived until after the Second World War.
They have been going in their present form since 1961.
They currently sit near the top of the Northern Division's Northumberland and Durham division two, but over the course of the last five decades they have competed in leagues two or three divisions higher than that.
Club president Brian Fishwick is urging past players, members and supporters to get back in contact so they can be part of the golden anniversary celebrations.
He said: "Once we get the fixtures for next season, we will be organising a formal dinner to mark the occasion, and it would be great to see everyone there.
"It is a big family club, and there are lots of kids and family members who can be seen in the clubhouse during home fixtures.
"It would be great to get everyone together again."
Anyone wanting to get in touch is asked to contact Brian at brian.fishwick1@btinternet.com , secretary Dave Grey at dave.grey@live.uk or write to: Blyth RFC, Clubhouse, Plessey Road, Blyth, NE24 3LE.
