Blyth Football Team

Pristine in newly acquired kit, footballers from Blyth Valley Arts and Leisure’s Ability to Play Project turned out for their first competitive matches on Sunday (June 24).

The enthusiastic squad of ten played against other teams from the region in the Junior Ability Counts Festival held at Northburn Community Centre, Cramlington.

The event, organised by Northumberland and Durham FA, was held with the aim of raising the profile of junior disabled football in the region.

Thanks to a generous donation of football strips from Game On North East, the team from Blyth looked the part and their performance has fuelled the campaign to establish a junior disability football club in the town.

Speaking about the event, Adam Dixon, Community Sports Coach for Blyth Valley Arts and Leisure, said: “It was fantastic to get the opportunity to play against other teams. There were some great performances and everyone enjoyed themselves.”
