Childhood Obesity and SEF Training
Northumberland Sport and Tyne Wear Sport are providing free half day workshops. These half day workshops will enable delegates to gain knowledge and understanding of the ‘Understanding Childhood Obesity’ Teaching Guide and the Standard Evaluation Framework (SEF) for weight management interventions.
The dates are;
28th April 2010, 9:30 - 1:00 at The Holiday Inn, Seaton Burn
25th May 2010, 9:30 - 1:00 at Choppington Social Welfare Centre
The course is being offered free of charge through in-kind support, and funding provided to Northumberland Sport and Tyne & Wear Sport by Public Health North East.
The SEF is essential for those commissioning, running or evaluating weight management interventions, and it is likely that all future commissioning through Public Health North East will require the SEF to be used.
The workshop is targeted at:
- Leisure Services/Leisure Trusts – both sports development staff and facilities staff that might be involved in GP Referral services or the delivery of physical activity as part of weight management programmes.
- National Governing Bodies of Sport with a specific interest in the ‘grow’ agenda and promoting broader physical activity as an entry into their sport.
- School Sport Partnerships – Partnership Development Managers, School Sport Coordinators, Extended Services staff and HealthySchools leads.
- Weight management projects – project staff and coordinators.
- Children ’s Services staff.
- Early years providers e.g. Children ’s Centres.
- Volunteers and community sector staff.
Details of how to book onto these courses will be published here soon. In the meantime contact Joanne Edwards, Senior Development Manager (Physical Activity).
