Coaching Opportunity for New Level 1 Coaches
An exciting scheme to train new sport coaches in the Wansbeck area is being proposed for later this year.
The ‘Recruit into Coaching’ scheme will be available to anyone who is already working with or wishes to work with local clubs and groups and who is interested in backing this up with a first coaching qualification in an appropriate sport or activity. This will be a great opportunity for local people to gain free access to their first coaching qualification as well as further general training in topics such as basic sports leadership, safeguarding children in sport, first aid and sports equity.
All newly qualified coaches developed through the scheme will be matched with local clubs and organisations that are providing sports activities to local people where necessary.
It is hoped that the opportunities provided for people to gain an introduction to coaching and develop relevant skills such as planning, communicating with and organising groups and assessing and evaluating activities will transfer to wider employment opportunities. Potential candidates who wish to progress further as sport coaches will be able to access further support from a wide range of partners involved in the scheme which will be managed by Northumberland Sport in partnership with sports governing bodies and local sports providers.
