Nicola Sanders (pictured right) recently received the Coach of the Year award from the Northumberland Netball Association, after being nominated by Joan Campbell, Northumberland Sport’s Netball Development Officer.

Joan said; “Nicola deserves this award for her outstanding contribution to netball in Northumberland.  Over the past year, Nicola has delivered lots of voluntary coaching hours and overseen the running of our new high 5 club in Blyth.  She has also been heavily involved with the Cramlington Satellite and County academy programme, coached the county team that played in the regional league last winter and supported the Northumberland Netball Association with the nomination and selection of county and satellite players.”

In an effort to improve her coaching skills, Nicola has recently commenced her Level 3 Netball Coaching award, which is financially supported by Northumberland Sport through our Coach Grant Award Scheme.  Northumberland Sport will continue to support Nicola through her Level 3 coach development, which would be a significant achievement for the county, as there are currently no Level 3 coaches in the county.

Other Achievements

Regular visitors to our website may recall that Nicola was also voted ‘Volunteer Club Coach of the Year at our Step Into Sport celebration evening earlier this year.  Gina Wenn (pictured with Nicola on the left), nominated Nicola for this award after she gained her Level 1 coaching award thanks to Nicola’s support.
