DSE Junior Regional Athletics Championships

230 youngsters from around the North East gathered at Gateshead International Stadium on 25th April 2008 for the DSE Junior Regional Athletics Championships.

This successful event was sponsored by Nationwide Building Society who became the main sponsor of DSE in November 2005 in a deal worth £1million over seven years, with additional funding and volunteer support from npower as part of the npower Active Programme. The day was organised by England Athletics in partnership with EFDS and other regional partners.

Special Guests Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, Stephen Miller & Lee Hunter watched 230 athletes compete at the championships. Over 60 athletes qualified for the DSE National Finals and a lucky few were invited to meet Mr Tony Blair to participate in a sports demonstration afterwards.
