In growing recognition of the childhood obesity challenge faced in the Country, the Northumberland Care Trust will be launching a strategy in Northumberland in an attempt to halt the year on year rise.

Northumberland Sport is keen to support the Care Trust in tackling this issue by promoting the health benefits of active recreation, which combined with improved family diets, will lead to healthier lifestyles for the whole family.

The Care Trust are keen to work with Partners and other organisations to improve the diet of families living in Northumberland and improve the levels of physical activity undertaken by children and their families, and to encourage them to make healthy lifestyle choices. We also must find ways to support those children and families who already struggle with their weight.

This strategy will be launched by the Care Trust at the ‘Childhood Obesity Conference’ on Monday July 2nd at Longhirst Hall, near Morpeth. If you would like to influence the development of the Childhood Obesity Strategy in Northumberland and share your views on how we can implement it together then please apply for a place at the forthcoming event, by clicking on the invitation link below.
