Sport Relief is on the lookout for motivated people with the skills and experience to organise a Mile event for their town. Organising a Mile event isn’t difficult but there are a few minimum requirements:
· Your event must take place on Sunday 21st March 2010
· The event must be open to the public and accessible to all
· You must have access to a suitable venue that allows for several hundred participants to run 1, 3 or 6 miles
· You must have a group of reliable friends/volunteers to help you out
Not only is organising a Sport Relief Mile great fun, it’s also a great opportunity to...
· Get more people in your community active (in 2008, over 41% of Milers were not active participants in sport!)
· Showcase your venue
· Bring local organisations in your community together
· Raise your profile – use it as an opportunity to promote your organisation and attract new members
· Gain amazing publicity by being part of a huge national campaign
And the Sport Relief Events Team will be on hand to support you the whole way through by providing:
· Your own event webpage to promote your Mile event – they’ll also handle everything to do with registering participants so you can focus on the fun event stuff
· Posters, press releases and other promotional materials
· An organiser’s kit - full of information and everything you could need to organise, publicise and deliver a safe, successful and fun Mile event
· Event Materials such as course banners, organiser’s t-shirts, goody bags, bottles of water, and a whole lot more
· A dedicated member of the team to call on whenever you need to
