Take to the Streets

Take to the Street

The first ever Sport England Activity Challenge was launched on 30 September 2007.  This is a ten week campaign running from 30 September until 10 December 2007 which aims to get over 3,000 adults to increase their levels of activity through a variety of fun and local events organised by local authorities across the region.

Supported and funded by Sport England and in association with the Great Activity Revolution the Challenge will include a wide variety of activities for all abilities.  The Sport England Activity Challenge is open to anyone wanting to get more active and we are particularly looking to attract people who currently are not doing any exercise.

An Activity Passport will be introduced as an addded incentive for those who have not taken part in sport or physical activity in the last 4 weeks.  Given to each new starter when they attend their first event the Passport will gather information on how regularly they take part in activities over a 10 week period and at the end of the challenge there is the opportunity to be entered into a free prize draw to win a one year annual membership at a local gym!  Runner up prizes of Sport England "goody bags" will also be up for grabs and the more activities you attend the greater you chance of scooping a prize.

Sport England, Northumberland Sport, Community Sports Networks and Great North Run organisers are working together on the Sport England Activity Challenge to organise local activities and events to get MORE people MORE activve.  Details about the various activities available can be found on the Great Activity website.
