What are Athletics Networks?

Athletics Networks areclusters of clubs working strategically with other local key partners to develop the sport of athletics in that geographical area. McCain Athletics Networks are multiple clubs (often comprising of a mixture of track and field and off-track)working together.

Networks have two primary targets:

  1. Improve the quality of coaching locally - increase the number and improve the quality of coaches;
  2. Dvelop the local clubs' infrastructure - increase the number and improve the quality of volunteers, improve club structure and ensure clubs are able to grow and sustain participation.

The ethos behind McCain Athletics Networks is all about working in partnership.

Athletics Network Criteria

McCain Athletics Network demonstrates the following:

  1. Affiliation to England Athletics
  2. Delivery of McCain Networks Success Factors which covers the following criteria:
  • Coaching development
  • Club development
  • Club sharing
  • Wider partnership
  • Growing participation
  • Sustaining participation
  • Developing participation
  • Sustainability
  • Desire to develop the sport of Athletics at local level.

What are McCain Athletics Networks primary aims?

  • Growing and sustaining participation levels in sport.
  • Improving the quality of experience for all participants.
  • Improving levels of athlete performance.
  • Laying the foundations for the next generation of champions.
