Competition Managers
Northumberland Competition Managers in Post
To help deliver against the objectives outlined in the 5 Hour Offer, we are delighted to announce that Northumberland’s Competition Manager team is now in place.
This team consists;
- Rod Rogers – Senior Competition Manager
- Ben Hood – Competition Manager (north) - Ashington School Sport Partnership (SSP), Blyth & Bedlington SSP, North Northumberland SSP.
- Michael Hutchison – Competition Manager (south) – Cramlington & Seaton Valley SSP, Morpeth & Ponteland SSP, Tynedale SSP.
The role of the team is to;
- co-ordinate high quality inter-school competitions for all young people who wish to take part.
- work with all sports partners within the county to achieve this.
- raise the number of young people taking part (target 5% per annum).
- develop and co-ordinate a competition calendar for Northumberland that includes competitions at SSP, inter-SSP, County, Regional and National levels.
- develop clear pathways for life-long participation, leadership, volunteering and performance.
Initially for 2008 – 09, 80% of the teams efforts should target the eight sports chosen nationally for competition manager networks, namely athletics, football, rugby union, rugby league, cricket, swimming, tennis and table tennis. The remainder can be targeted using local initiatives.
We also want to work alongside all the other sports partners/organisations in Northumberland to develop further sporting opportunities for young people.
Initially the team is focussing on introducing themselves to partner organisations in Northumberland who share an interest in developing sporting opportunities for young people. If you would like to discuss the provision of sporting opportunities in the county, please contact a member of the team.
