Walking for Health

The national 'Walking for Health' project encourages people, especially those who do little exercise, to take part in regular, short walks in their local communities. These walks are all led by trained volunteers and provide an opportunity for participating walkers to enjoy their local environment and benefit their health.

There are lots of walks each week in Northumberland and they are all free. The basic principle is: same time, same place each week, just turn up and there will be someone there to take you for a walk.

You can find your nearest walk by using the 'walk finder' facility on the Natural England website or by contacting the Natural England staff who are promoting the Walking for Health project in Northumberland:
