Marketing Workshop

Golf clubs across Northumberland are being urged to take the chance to learn how to put themselves in the shop window.

A special day long workshop is being held in March aimed at helping clubs improve their marketing campaigns - whether it be to increase membership or drive up visitor numbers.

The nationwide project is being organised by the English Golf Union's club services department and is designed to put clubs on the right course by delivering a practical guide to marketing and how it can be achieved with limited resources and budget.

Topics covered at the event - which takes place at Alnmouth Golf Club on 13th March 2012 - include

  • Why clubs need to have a marketing plan in place
  • How simple planning can increase the chances of success
  • Establishing an effective marketing committee
  • Finding the right tools for success to reduce workload and cost - including online

The day will be presented by EGU golf club marketing consultant Jane Carter, who will offer a free two-hour follow up meeting to those attending.

Places are limited to two delegates per club at a cost of £20 per head with further information available from Jo Nettleton on 01455 618697 or by emailing jo.nettleton@golfconsulting.co.uk

Says Lisa Ferrie, golf development officer for the Northumberland County Golf Partnership: "The advice provided will be invaluable to officials striving to safeguard the future of their club. In a challenging economic climate it is important clubs do everything they can to encourage people to use their facilities and this workshop will help them achieve that and protect their income in the years ahead."

The Northumberland County Golf Partnership is a collaboration of a number of stakeholders in the sport including the English Golf Union, The English Women's Golf Association, the PGA, the Golf Foundation and Sport England.

In Northumberland the partnership is supported by the Northumberland Union of Golf Clubs, the Northumberland Ladies County Golf Association, the Northumberland Junior Golfing Association and the Professional Golfers' Association.
