Collingwood Breakfast Club - Top-Up Swimming
For the whole of November, Morpeth-Ponteland School Sport Partnership have hired Collingwood Pool 8-8:30am, to offer an intensive week of swimming lessons for non swimmers and beginners.
Pupils from Stobhillgate, Collingwood,
MorpethFirstSchool, Abbeyfields and All Saints have all taken up this fantastic opportunity.
Moira
Blackhall (SSCo) and
JennyGlossop (Northumberland Sport) have been running the sessions and are incredibly impressed with the progress that swimmers have made over such a short period of time. Because the swimmers are in the water on a daily basis, they are not forgetting things as easily and their confidence is growing and growing. All swimmers are now putting their faces in the water and have achieved swimming distance of between 5 and 20 metres using recognised strokes.
Due to the undoubted success of these sessions, this is a scheme we will look to run again in 2009.
