Darras Hall First School Jumps In!

There is no better way to remember the last week of first school than to enjoy a year group sporting event.  This is exactly what Darras Hall First School had in mind, as the year 4 walked across to Ponteland Swimming Pool ready for a fun filled afternoon in the swimming pool.   The theme of study for the last term of school had been about Africa.  This was mirrored in the pool with 12 teams of 6, the giraffes, antelope, elephants, lions, hyenas, crocodiles etc all came together to see who were the real kings of the jungle.

Fun relay events, such as Fancy Hat, Treasure Hunt and Surfs Up, tested the pupils balance, agility, water confidence, breath control and speed.  The swimmers thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  Chris Elbett, Key-Stage 2 Coordinate was very pleased with the outcome and would like to see it become an annual end of year event for year 4 students at Darras Hall.  JennyGlossop, Swimming Development Officer, was overwhelmed to see so many young people in the water, all confidently participating.  The day ran very smoothly due to the support from Morpeth-Ponteland SSP, Northumberland Sport, Young Leaders from Ponteland Middle School, Ponteland Swimming Club who attended the event and donated medals for the swimmers, the Teachers at Darras Hall First School, Darras Hall PTA and of course the positive pupils that attended the festival.

It was a truly memorable occasion.
