Step into Sport
Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson with young volunteers at last years Step into Sport Conference
How does it work?
Northumberland Sport works with the School Sport Partnership (SSP) network and local authorities to support one of the 8 strands of the PE, School Sport and Club Links (PESSCL) Strategy.
Step into Sport is about engaging young people aged 16-19 to volunteer within quality community clubs in Northumberland.
Each academic year approximately 20 young people from within each SSP network were chosen to attend a one day conference organised by Northumberland Sport.
How can I support this scheme?
If you are a club/organisation wanting to support young volunteers in your club then you can become a registered placement provider through Northumberland Sport - contact Neville Duncan for details. This means that (subject to you meeting certain criteria) volunteers will be signposted to you. Obviously this is subject to individual volunteers interest, availability and skills.
