Covid-19 Update – Events

17th March 2020

Please find the latest position statement from the Active Partnership, following consultation with Sport England and the Chair of our LOC, in relation to our School Games Level 3 programme.

Please do keep in mind that this is an ever-changing situation and we will update our stance as and when required following any further advice from the government and Public Health England. We will post on Twitter (@nldsport / @tynewearsport) and contact all registered participants directly should there be a significant change, such as the cancellation of events, or changes of venue.

Details in relation to the position on our events in Northumberland are detailed below.

Sportshall Athletics – 26th March 2020

Unfortunately, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel our School Games Sportshall Athletics event.

Basketball Level 3 Event – 30th March 2020

Unfortunately, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the Northumberland School Games Level 3 Basketball event at Newcastle Eagles.

DfE Young Volunteer Event at Northumbria Uni – 1st April 2020

Unfortunately, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the second Northumberland Sport DfE Young Volunteer training event, which was due to take place on 1st April.

North East Disability Sports Awards (NEDSA) – 2nd April 2020

The NEDSA Steering Group have agreed to postpone the annual awards due to take place at Princess Alexandra Auditorium, Yarm School early next month.  All attendees will be contacted by Tees Valley Sport.

Para Games, Northumbria Uni – 29th April 2020

In line with the Government announcement on the closure of schools we have now taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Para Games.

We are having to react to a rapidly changing situation and had to take advice from Northumbria University, who as host of our event advised that all sports competitions and events have had to be cancelled for the foreseeable future.

School Games Level 3 Festival – 25th June 2020

At present the Northumberland School Games Level 3 County Festival have not been cancelled or postponed.

We also recognise that schools/organisation are having to make decisions locally as to their own position in relation to the COVID-19 outbreak. Therefore, if you are withdrawing your school/organisation or any individuals from any events, please email the following as soon as possible as this affects our event planning:
